At Godwick, weddings are never just events – they’re deeply personal, thoughtfully curated celebrations, brought to life by a team who genuinely care. Today, we’re catching up with Hannah, one of our wonderful wedding planners, to talk all things weddings, what happens behind the scenes, and why being part of a small, dedicated team makes all the difference.
How long have you been part of the Godwick team?
I’ve been part of the team for three years now – this will be my fourth season, which feels a bit surreal!
What does Godwick mean to you in three words?
Rewarding, fun, camaraderie.
What makes weddings at Godwick so special?
I think being part of such a small team makes our weddings particularly special. You know that every member of the Godwick team has had a part to play in your wedding, and we all genuinely care about getting it right for you. It feels very personal – because it is.
How did you get into wedding planning?
I’d worked in event management at another venue before and always found myself drawn to the weddings side of things. After finishing my degree, I was looking for something local but wasn’t entirely sure where I wanted my career to go. Godwick came up as a maternity cover role, and I was so excited to be back in weddings. I’ve always been very organised, so planning felt like a natural fit. Once I started, I completely fell in love with it, and honestly, I was gutted at the thought of leaving when the contract ended. Luckily, it was made permanent!
What do you love most about your role?
Running the weddings is definitely the most fun part. If I could, I’d be the event manager for every single one, but I think I’d be completely exhausted by the end of the season!
What’s your favourite part of a Godwick wedding day?
I feel like we all say this, but it has to be the ceremony entrance. There’s something so special about that moment – the music, the timing, and seeing one partner’s face as the other walks down the aisle. It gets me every time.
How would you describe your planning style?
I’d say I’m quite laid-back in the sense that I never want my couples to feel stressed. I try to offer lots of helpful advice and guidance so the whole process feels easy and enjoyable.
What’s the first thing you say to couples when they book?
Congratulations! And then I immediately want to hear all about the engagement story.
What’s something you quietly take care of that couples might never realise?
There are quite a few things behind the scenes, but one that always makes me smile is just before the wedding breakfast. Guests love to put jackets, scarves, and bags on the backs of their chairs – usually before the photographer has had a chance to capture the room.
So you’ll often find me standing next to the photographer with a pile of belongings, carefully remembering where everything goes so it can all be put back exactly as it was afterwards!
Favourite ceremony spot at Godwick?
It has to be an indoor ceremony filled with drapes, lights, and flowers. I love seeing how each couple puts their own spin on it – it always feels unique.
Indoor or outdoor drinks reception?
Outdoor, always – if the weather allows! There’s nothing better than prosecco and canapés flowing outside in the sunshine.
Best seasonal moment at Godwick?
April and May are my favourites. The jasmine and wisteria around the Hall look so lush—it’s perfect for those bridal party photos before the ceremony. Just make sure to allow enough time to enjoy it!
One detail you always encourage couples to embrace?
Take five minutes, usually after dinner, to sit together and take it all in. You’ve spent months (sometimes years) planning this day, and it’s so important to pause and really soak it all up.
What’s your biggest piece of advice for couples planning their wedding?
Hire items instead of buying them. DIY sounds fun at first, but it can quickly become overwhelming (and take over your house!). You then have to set it all up, collect it the next day, and try to sell it afterwards. Bringing in a stylist or prop hire company, even for part of it, makes such a difference and often costs about the same, just without the stress.

A Team That Truly Cares
What shines through in every conversation with Hannah is just how much heart goes into each wedding at Godwick. From perfectly timed ceremony entrances to quietly gathering armfuls of coats before a photo, it’s the thoughtful, often unseen details that make all the difference.
With a close-knit team behind you, your wedding isn’t just another date in the diary – it’s a shared experience, carefully considered and genuinely cared for from start to finish. And that’s what makes Godwick feel so special.
