An Intimate Celebration of Love
There’s something incredibly special about intimate weddings — the ones filled with meaning, presence and heart. We are honoured to begin our Godwick Love Stories series with the beautiful story of Richard and Noeleen, who chose to celebrate their love in such an intentional way.
A Love Story That Stood the Test of Time
Richard and Noeleen first met over 20 years ago, the old-fashioned way, as they say – locking eyes across a crowded nightclub in Nottingham. What began as a spark became a steady, enduring love. They built a life together and welcomed their daughter, Neve, and after many years of shared laughter, quiet moments and deep connection, the idea of marriage began to gently resurface.
There was no big proposal – just real conversations, shared dreams and a desire to mark their journey together. Inspired by close friends who’d chosen an elopement-style wedding with only two witnesses, Richard and Noeleen realised they too could shape their day in a way that truly suited them.
Finding Godwick
While researching intimate weddings and elopement venues, they discovered Godwick, a place they’d never heard of before but instantly connected with. “It looked perfect,” they shared. The appeal was simple: a beautiful, private space that could offer everything they needed, including witnesses, which helped them avoid the difficult task of choosing among loved ones.
But a few weeks before the wedding, life shifted. Noeleen’s parents announced their plans to move back to Scotland after more than 40 years in Nottingham. It was Debbie-Lee Pinching, their wedding planner and event manager at Godwick, who gently suggested they invite them to be witnesses — a decision that turned out to be incredibly meaningful.
“We’re so glad that we asked them to be with us at Godwick,” Noeleen said. “It became even more special.”
The Wedding Day
Married on Tuesday 29th October 2024, with the ceremony held at Godwick Hall, the day was everything they had hoped for — calm, intimate, full of warmth.
In three words? Love, Laughter & Stressless.
Richard’s most unforgettable moment was watching Noeleen walk into the room. For Noeleen, it was the quiet joy of feeling completely content, surrounded by the people who mattered most — Richard, Neve, and her parents.
“There was no stress. I can absolutely say that I wasn’t stressed one bit, from booking in January to the wedding day,” said Noeleen. “Debbie-Lee made everything go smoothly. It was perfect.”
Personal Touches & Precious Memories
The couple stayed at The Old Stables, making the experience even more relaxed. The photo taken just after the ceremony, with Neve and Noeleen’s parents watching from the sofa, holds deep emotional value — a moment in time that says everything about love, support and quiet celebration.
Another standout memory? Their portraits among the ruins of the Lost Village of Godwick, capture the history and beauty of the land as the backdrop to their new chapter.

Richard and Noeleen brought together a wonderful team of creatives to help bring their wedding vision to life:

Words of Wisdom
When asked for advice for other couples, their message is simple:
“If you’ve decided on a small affair, Godwick Hall is perfect. Everything was stress-free. It was so nice to spend time on either side of the wedding day at The Old Stables – very relaxing.”
Would they change a thing? Not at all.
Their biggest advice for enjoying your day to the fullest: “Relax and take it all in.”
