Gina and Ben’s summer
Godwick wedding
Penny of The Little Lending Company tells us how she collaborated with Gina and Ben to create this stunning Godwick wedding.
1. Penny what were the main influences on the design and style of the wedding?
It was heavily inspired by bohemian weddings but I wanted the day to feel really special and luxe, not how you would think of the usual wild bohemia we have seen so much. Influences came from modern Australian weddings with their effortless boho feel.
One of the key aims of bride Gina was that she wanted the barn to be ‘dripping in flowers’ so in collaboration with Floral Sistas we knew we could get really creative with installations to really create impact.
2. Did you have a colour palette and why did you choose those colours?
The wedding was inspired by rich and quite moody colours for the time of the year, and Gina had some super inspiring images and knew what she liked for the palette but was really flexible with the different colour shades used, which were deep burgundy, soft and bright pinks, reds and neutrals and I loved seeing the dark burnt red foliages too. Neutral linens and candlesticks lightened the tables but it was great seeing such a rich and exciting colour mix in the barn.
3. What sort of look were you trying to achieve in the barn? How did you go about this? What were the main design features in the barn?
We wanted the barn to feel relaxed yet elevated. Everything was very considered through the styling which helped make the whole wedding design come together. The focus was on an incredible statement floral arch and aisle for those all important vows and a really stunning organic backdrop behind the top table where the florals seems to look like they we’re growing from the brickwork. Height was also added to table arrangements which was something a little different to what had been seen in the barn before. It was great to see the barn feeling really contemporary but also keep the bohemian, relaxed feel at the same time.
4. What were some of your favourite parts of the look that you achieved?
I loved the aisle, with the vintage Persian rugs, abundance of candles on the ancient stairs, florals galore and wood stained personalised signage at the start of the aisle it was such a special space for Ben and Gina and really reflected them both.
Did you have much help on set up day? How was that? Any tips for other Godwick brides?
With the The Little Lending Company and Floral Sistas collaborative package we’re on site for the whole day before helping with the decor and logistics, bringing all the essential bits you need for set up with us and our knowledge of the barn space to make the set up day something special. Ben and Gina were around throughout the day seeing it all take shape but really benefited from having less stress of doing it and being able to meet and greet their family and friends as they arrived. I have seen so many stressed couples on set up day trying to juggle everything themselves, so some assistance from a team with experience is invaluable, making the whole wedding experience really fun, which is what it should be.
Did all elements of their day feed into your main theme?
I ensured every aspect of the design was really thought through from adding in wedding colours to the existing wreaths in the Godwick bar area, ceremony and the table plan. It’s all about the details coming together to create a really memorable day that really represents the couple and their tastes.
