Funding support for The Lost Village of Godwick
The Lost Village of Godwick is one of the best preserved deserted medieval villages in Norfolk. We wanted to tell its story by introducing new and improved interpretation panels and an accompanying website
The project was supported by the European Union via the LEADER programme and we were fortunate to receive 100% funding. Our project was called: Godwick Deserted Village – new interpretation and visitor trail.
The aim was to provide an interesting, informative and free tourist trail and attraction away from the north Norfolk coast drawing tourists inland and away from the main tourist hot spots of north Norfolk.
We thank the Local Action Group, Norfolk County Council, the Rural Payments Agency and the European Union with their support to help us complete this project.
Historic England has also provided funding to carry out development and stabilisation work to safeguard the church tower and prevent further degradation, whilst ensuring it remains safe to visit. Work to carry out repairs to the tower will be undertaken in spring 2020, to ensure it remains part of this important heritage landscape for the future.
